What is NDIS?

19 June 2024

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is an Australian government program designed to support people with disabilities. It provides funding for a range of services and supports tailored to the individual needs of participants. The goal is to help people with disabilities achieve their goals, participate in the community, and improve their quality of life.

The NDIS covers a variety of supports, including:

  • Personal care and assistance
  • Therapy and counseling
  • Assistive technology and equipment
  • Home modifications
  • Community participation and social activities

Eligibility for the NDIS depends on factors such as age, residency status, and the nature and impact of the disability. The scheme is intended to be more flexible and person-centered compared to previous disability support systems.
